Installation Guide for Timber Doors:

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Timber door

  • Door frame

  • Hinges

  • Screws

  • Screwdriver

  • Drill

  • Level

  • Measuring tape

  • Shims

  • Wood putty

  • Sandpaper

Installation Steps:

  1. Measure and Prepare: Measure the door opening and the door itself to ensure a proper fit. The door should be slightly smaller than the opening to allow for clearance. Remove any old door and hardware.

  2. Prepare the Door: If the door is unfinished, sand it down and apply your chosen finish (paint or varnish) following the manufacturer's instructions. Allow it to dry completely before installation.

  3. Install Hinges: Position the hinges on the door's edge, typically three hinges evenly spaced. Mark the hinge screw locations and pre-drill holes for the screws. Attach the hinges to the door using the screws provided.

  4. Prepare the Frame: Ensure the door frame is plumb and level. If not, use shims to make necessary adjustments. Mark the hinge locations on the frame, aligning them with the hinges on the door.

  5. Install Door: With the help of a friend, lift the door and fit the hinge pins into the hinge locations on the frame. Secure the hinges to the frame using screws.

  6. Check for Proper Alignment: Close the door and check if it fits properly within the frame. Adjust the hinges or shims if needed to ensure the door opens and closes smoothly and seals properly.

  7. Add Hardware: Install the handle, lockset, and any other hardware according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  8. Test the Door: Open and close the door several times to ensure it operates smoothly and locks securely.

  9. Finishing Touches: Fill any screw holes with wood putty, sand smooth, and touch up the finish as needed.

  3. Install Hinges: Position the hinges on the door's edge, typically three evenly spaced hinges. Mark the hinge screw locations and pre-drill holes for the screws. Attach the hinges to the door using the provided screws.

  4. Hang the Door: With the assistance of a helper, hang the door in the frame. Insert hinge pins into the hinge locations on the frame.

Installation Guide for Furniture:

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Furniture piece

  • Assembly instructions (if provided)

  • Screws, bolts, and nuts (usually included)

  • Screwdriver or Allen wrench (often included)

Installation Steps:

  1. Read the Instructions: Begin by carefully reading the assembly instructions provided by the manufacturer. Familiarize yourself with the parts and the assembly process.

  2. Organize Parts: Lay out all the components and hardware in an organized manner to easily access what you need.

  3. Assembly Sequence: Follow the manufacturer's recommended assembly sequence. This often involves starting with the base or frame and gradually adding components like shelves, drawers, and doors.

  4. Fasten Components: Use the appropriate screws, bolts, and nuts to attach components together. Tighten them securely but avoid over-tightening, which could damage the furniture.

  5. Check Alignment: Ensure that all parts are properly aligned as you assemble them. Use a level or measuring tape to confirm that the furniture is level and square.

  6. Attach Hardware: Install any knobs, handles, or other hardware according to the instructions.

  7. Final Inspection: Double-check all connections and components to make sure everything is securely fastened and properly aligned.

  8. Test Functionality: Open and close drawers or doors, and test any moving parts (e.g., reclining mechanisms on chairs or sofa beds) to ensure they operate smoothly.

  9. Clean and Finish: Clean the furniture to remove any fingerprints, dust, or debris. Apply any provided finish or touch-up as necessary.

  10. Placement: Carefully place the assembled furniture in its intended location, taking care not to scratch floors or walls.

Always refer to the specific assembly instructions provided with your furniture, as the steps can vary depending on the design and type of furniture you are assembling.
